Our History Goes Way Back: 1992, in Fact.

       William Ryan Homes was founded in Chicago 1992 by William J. Ryan, then a dedicated young man who came from a long line of professional homebuilders. Since then, William Ryan decided to expand his operations into other cities including to the Southwest U.S. in Phoenix, AZ in 2005.

At that time, Arizona was a booming area attracting new businesses and new residents. The Arizona climate and increasing number of employers expanding into the state added to the area’s growth. Because Phoenix was such a popular metro area, William Ryan Homes set up their first community and model home center in Estrella, the master-planned community in Goodyear, AZ.

Homebuyer response was enthusiastic! Before long, Estrella was sold out and William Ryan Homes expanded to both the east and west valley including Verrado and Eastmark. Since then, we have continued to steadily expand and offer our high-quality new construction homes in six master-planned communities throughout the Phoenix area. Future plans include Goodyear, Avondale, Buckeye, Queen Creek, and San Tan Valley. William Ryan Homes Phoenix currently employs more than 35 local residents. And this year, 2022, William Ryan Homes celebrates its 30^th anniversary with the same passion, dedication, and vision with which it began.

William Ryan Was Born into Homebuilding.

        "Growing up in a family that started building homes in 1925, I knew early on what profession I would choose. At the same time, I was determined to make my own mark in the field, envisioning a company that would take the family tradition of delivering value and personal service to new heights, larger markets, and an ever wider variety of home buyers,” he said.

“When I started this company in 1992, the vision was to build a successful national homebuilder,” added Ryan, who is not only founder but continues as CEO for William Ryan Homes. To date, the company has built more than 15,000 homes across the United States.

William Ryan Wanted to Be a Better Kind of Builder.

           And he has certainly succeeded. William Ryan believes his company is not just different than typical home builders. It’s better. “Our hard work and dedication to quality, customer satisfaction, and a close-knit company infrastructure have remained the cornerstones of our growth and success and our vision remains the same,” he said.

Ryan is a native of Pittsburgh, PA who grew up in Cincinnati, OH and attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. “My grandfather built his first home in Pittsburgh in 1925,” Ryan explained. “My dad and uncles eventually became part of that business, with my dad taking on the role of opening up new cities for the company. That’s how we ended up in Cincinnati.”

While attending Marquette University in Milwaukee, Ryan spent some time in nearby Chicago and as he puts it, “I fell in love with it. By 1990, I had an overwhelming urge to start my own homebuilding company and, at that time, Chicago was picked to be the country’s leading home building market. So that made the decision pretty easy and I packed up my family and headed to Chicago.”

 William Ryan Homes remains headquartered in the Chicago area in Glenview, IL.

  Ryan’s move paid off as the still privately-held company has built more than 15,000 single-family homes and branched beyond Chicago to markets in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, and Arizona as mentioned earlier. “While we are definitely a production builder, it is imperative that we give each of our homebuyers a higher level of customer service throughout the building process. That’s what sets us apart.” Ryan said.
