The Dallas housing market is expected to bounce back from the usual winter slow down this spring.
“Desirable areas, good school districts, and good quality homes are still going to sell well and [still] face bidding wars,” said Ali Wolf, chief economist at the building consultancy Zonda in a MetroTex Association of Realtors press release.
However, it will still be a slower market than during the pandemic and pre-pandemic years. A shortage of move-in-ready, well-priced homes will make purchasing a new construction home an excellent option.
Homeowners who would’ve usually put their homes up for sale during the spring market may be hesitant to do so. After hearing about people getting multiple offers for unheard-of prices a year ago, they’ll likely expect the same and not want to settle for anything less. It will likely take some time for them to accept the new norm, said George Ratiu, senior economist at Realtor.com.
“Once the psychological adjustment completes, sellers will much more likely come to grips with the fact that the market is different,” Ratiu said in a MetroTex Association of Realtors press release.
