Diante and Janis Hodge of Phoenix have a quite unusual story about how they got married: They had the ceremony in a William Ryan Homes model home in Cordoba Montecito in Estrella Mountain Ranch, officiated by the sales consultant who helped them get a new home.
Let’s start at the beginning. The couple had planned to get married but it was not high on their to-do list, since they were still getting settled in greater Phoenix after moving from Virginia.
After first considering finding a rental apartment in Phoenix, they met Michael Coppers, sales manager for William Ryan Homes Phoenix, in a social setting. Michael explained the benefits of home ownership in greater Phoenix and outlined a path for the two new Arizonians to buy a home that best fit their needs and wants.
Diante is retired Navy and wanted to utilize one of the V.A. options available to the men and women who serve our country. However, the VA loan that best suited the couple required them to be married to qualify. So Michael suggested a solution: Get married, qualify for the loan, and move into their dream home. And here’s the kicker: Michael, who is also a nondenominational minister, could perform the ceremony.
When Michael explained his grand plan that included an offer to marry them, Diante and Janis first thought he was joking. But the couple quickly realized his idea made sense.
A couple weeks later, Michael invited Diante and Janis to the William Ryan Homes model home where they had selected their dream home in Cordoba at Montecito in Estrella in the suburban town of Goodyear, AZ. The model home was decorated with balloons and signs (and a bouquet of flowers for Janis), and the two were married August 4.
Michael truly lived up to the William Ryan Homes motto of “We Make It Easy,” and performing a wedding ceremony in a model home is certainly a first.
Diante and Janis have a blended family with five adult and minor children, plus two grandchildren. The Viento model - a 2,700 square-foot home with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a 3-car garage – fit their wide range of family needs.
Having options to customize their new home was important to Janis, who did not have such choices in the two previous homes she owned. She was particularly excited about the structural options like a bonus room and gourmet kitchen. She also had a wide range of options for flooring, countertops, colors and more.
Diante’s and Janis’ new home is in the William Ryan Homes community of Cordoba at Montecito in Estrella Mountain Ranch, which is home to more than 7,000 homes with residents ranging from young couples to retirees. Amenities include two clubs for residents with fitness facilities, heated pools, championship golf courses, tennis courts, sand volleyball, and community centers offering clubs and classes. There are numerous lakes and parks for hiking and biking. Additionally, Estrella Mountain Ranch hosts year-round family events like farmer’s markets. View Community.
