The Tampa Bay is known the world over for its fantastic recreational and entertainment opportunities for singles, couples and families. But what is there for your dog to do? Plenty! Tampa Bay boasts numerous dog parks ranging from a waterfront park in South Tampa to inland parks east of Tampa Bay. William Ryan Homes Tampa builds new construction homes in eight Bay area communities across five counties and all of them offer access to local dog parks.
Once you’ve found the perfect William Ryan home for your family, make sure your dog feels right at home indoors and out. Dog parks give your dog a chance to romp and exercise without a leash in a protected environment with other dogs. It’s great for them physically as well as socially.
Some dog parks provide separate areas for small dogs and large dogs, hoses for washing dogs and filling water bowls, and plastic bags and cans for waste disposal. You may find benches or other seating and tables for dog parents to rest while the fur babies have a play date. Ideally, a dog park is fenced and offers open fields for running and fetching. Dogs can make new friends in any number of popular dog parks that have been created and maintained by the Parks & Recreation Department of various county governments in the Tampa Bay area.
In addition to the parks listed in the links below, there are private dog parks put together by dog lovers in individual neighborhoods throughout Tampa Bay.
Dog people are a special breed and are often very sociable. When dog owners gather to give their pets some outdoor fun, they also give themselves some human fun. Dogs learn to behave in social settings with other dogs and humans. People get the chance to meet other people and discover common interests. Often dog owners share information, ask questions, and provide advice to other dog owners in a dog park setting. Owners of specific breeds may find kindred spirits in the owners of others of the that breed.
One thing for certain is that people who love dogs cross all social barriers. Dog parks frequented often tend to promote a sense of community that’s beneficial for everyone, not just dog owners. And dogs who are well-exercised and used to the company of other dogs and strangers tend to be better behaved than dogs seldom involved in social situations.
William Ryan Homes knows homebuyers who love dogs love dogs a lot. That’s why the Sebring home design at BridgeWater Lakeland FL features a specially designated pet room. Tucked away under the staircase on the first floor, the pet room provides space for a pet bed, crate, water bowls and your pet’s other supplies. Check out the ingenious Sebring floor plan here.

Like many group activities, the pleasure of enjoying a dog park is also a shared responsibility. Dogs who go to dog parks should be:
· Properly vaccinated and tagged
· Up to date on flea and tick prevention
· Well behaved or in training to be well behaved.
The purpose of these requests is primarily for the safety of both you and your pet.
You should also:
· Keep control of your dog whether on the leash while going from car to park
· Off the leash while running and playing inside
If your dog is hesitant or afraid approaching other dogs, perhaps lets dogs meet through the fence before you enter the park. Dog owners are generally encouraged to keep their pet off leash while inside the park so that leashes don’t become entangled.
If your dog park doesn’t have dog-waste bags, be sure you bring some with you. Essential, of course, is for every pet owner to pick up after their own animal and dispose of waste responsibly. That is merely common courtesy.
While your dog is running around inside any dog park, make a point to call him or her back to you occasionally as a reminder you’re still there.
Chances are there is more than one dog park near all William Ryan Homes. Make a point of visiting two, three or more so you know exactly what’s available and how you like them. Each park will have its own unique mix of animals and humans. You and your dog may quickly find one that’s just the perfect fit for you.
