5 Things To Do in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin This Summer

Congratulations! You just moved to your new home in Sun Prairie and are trying to get a feel for what there is to do in the area. Luckily for you summer in Sun Prairie is a beautiful time of year with many amazing activities for all ages and personalities. West Prairie Village has easy access to all the things in this article, we encourage you to check out some or all of these spots!

1.   Visit Sun Prairie Aquatic Center 

When it’s just to hot to play at the park make your way over to the Sun Prairie Aquatic Center. Located just 7 minutes from your new home in West Prairie Village you can get there easily and enjoy the rain-maker, aqua fountains, a 210-foot water slide, an 18-foot drop slide, diving, water basketball court, lap area, sand playground, sand volleyball and shade and picnic areas. The pool also offers swimming lessons!

2.   Get Outdoors at Patrick Marsh Conservancy

Patrick Marsh is great for those that love to get out into nature! This conservancy is 340 Acres and is located on the east side of Sun Prairie. Patrick Marsh has opportunities for many different outdoor activities! Located right on Brazee Lake it holds over 2.5 miles of trails and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and snow shoeing and cross country skiing in the winter months.

3.   Take Your Pet Out At Sun Prairie Pet Exercise Area and Dog Park

For fun with your furry friends be sure to check out the Sun Prairie Dog Park! This is a beautiful 11 acre park that is equipped with picnic tables, benches, and waste disposal bags. There are two separate areas one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. Be aware that a dog park tag is required to use the Pet Exercise Area and Dog Park though, which can be purchased here.

4.   Attend A Race At Angell Park Speedway

Angell Park has been a community staple in Sun Prairie for decades now. Many racers have come from all over the world to attempt to win the weekly race, including Winston Cup star Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon, to name a couple. Every Sunday from May 15^th through Labor Day Angell Park fills with race enthusiast and first-time viewers to take in the excite of the race. Be sure to bring your ear plugs though, this one can get loud!

5.   Visit Downtown Madison

One of the best perks of your new home in Sun Prairie is how you’re just a few minutes from Downtown Madison and all it has to offer. Take advantage of the beautiful bike trails winding through downtown and around Lake Monona or visit one of the many shops and restaurants on State Street and the capital square. End the night off enjoying live entertainment and the sunset on Lake Mendota at the Memorial Union.
