  • Lakemoor

The average population tends to be younger, with the average age around 35. That’s good news if you are looking for a smaller community of people your own age with younger families. That will give you plenty of people with whom you can relate, have playdates, and help each other with child-rearing tips.

The population is just shy of 6000 people, which keeps it a nice small community where it is easier to get to know your neighbors, your kid’s teachers, the shop and business owners, and it makes it much easier to get around.

  • Location

Lakemoor is just an hour outside Chicago, which allows you the benefits of a big city but still living in your smaller community. Drive into Chicago and take in a play, concert, or other types of entertainment you won’t find at home. The best part about that is in the city, it could take you over an hour to get to the concert anyhow. This way, you hit the highway and you are home.

You are also about an hour’s drive away from Milwaukee, in the other direction. They also have great shopping opportunities, as well as plenty of options for entertainment.

Of course, you have all the brand name stores you need right at hand in Lakemoor. Get all the household items you need, clothes for the kids, and all the accessories, school supplies, and more at all your favorite department stores.

  • Entertainment

If you are looking for something to do with friends or family night, there are plenty of options available.

There are plenty of lounges and pubs to choose from, so there will be something for everyone. Sports lounges to hang out and catch the game on a big screen with your friends and a plate of hot wings.

Find a local to make your own or try a few to see who has the best food, the best prices, and perhaps, the best karaoke.

There are plenty of restaurants, too, from fancy foods to kid-friendly places. Find your favorite pizza place, your best fast-food takeaway, and where you can find your favorite ice cream.

If you are looking for a cozy place to have coffee or you have a hankering for something more exotic, you will be sure to find it in Lakemoor. Expect to find world-class dining and greasy burgers and fries, enough to keep everyone happy.

There are also several golf courses to keep you busy, plus historical sites, museums, libraries, parks, spas, movie theatres, live theatres, and even a few zoos.

  • Lakemoor Recreation

Lakemoor borders Lily Lake, a small glacial lake with a boat launch that provides water access. The lake is populated by largemouth bass (catch and release only), bluegill, crappie, carp, and perch.

The Fox River flows through this area which allows people both summer and winter water sports. Four state parks and six county conservation areas are nearby, including Moraine Hills State Park and the Volo Bog.

There is a decent-sized park there as well, with a playground, basketball and volleyball courts, plus a beach for swimming, sunning and relaxing.

  • Lakemoor Fest

There are festivals that take place for every season, like their Winter fest, and their very own Lakemoor Fest that takes place at Morrison Park in Lakemoor, Illinois.

This is an annual, weekend-long festival celebrating the community that brings families together. It runs for three days and attracts thousands of visitors and includes food, beer garden, music, carnival, vendors, fishing derby, horseshoe competition, bean bag tournament, and more.

The highlight of the festival is the fireworks show on Saturday evening over Lily Lake at dusk and can be seen all over the entire county.

William Ryan Homes

a History of Excellence

Growing up in a family that started building homes in 1925, I knew early on what profession I would choose. At the same time, I was determined to make my own mark in the field, envisioning a company that would take the family tradition of delivering value and personal service to new heights, larger markets, and an ever wider variety of home buyers.
